Here are the positions that we currently have open. Below are some descriptions of the duties of the positions. If you're interested, please email vp2@langleybaseball.ca

Elected Positions:

The following executive roles will be filled through election:

  • Vice President of Relations

  • Treasurer

  • Registrar

  • Secretary

  • Umpire in Chief

Appointed Positions:

These roles will be appointed by the board following the AGM:

  • Volunteer Coordinator

  • Evaluations Coordinator

  • Minors Division Coordinator

  • Tournament Coordinator

  • Concession Coordinator

  • Uniform Coordinator

  • Umpire Assigner

  • Junior/Senior Division Coordinator

  • Player Agent

  • Special Events Coordinator
    (Opening Ceremonies, Photo Day, Baseball/Tee-ball Jamboree)

 

Vice President 1 - Relations: 

  • In case of absence or disability they perform the duties of the President
  • Deals with all coach complaints and issues
  • Investigate complaints, irregularities and conditions with support of the President
  • Conflict resolution with league coordinator
  • Creates and runs all the evaluations and drafts for Langley Baseball
  • Communicates with Treasurer
  • Communicates with league coordinator
  • Supports Division Coordinators
  • Makes sure that the committees are following protocols
    • Concession Committee
    • Apparel Committee
    • Policy and Procedures
  • Help support and within the defined clear criteria for selecting coaches such as certification, experience and coach philosophy (committee)
  • Coach selection committee
  • Ensure that all player-related activities and decision adhere to the Little League rules and regulations, maintaining the integrity of the league

Treasurer:

  • Preparation of the annual budget to submit at the AGM and Little league
  • Keep track of all the monies
  • Receive all monies and deposit in a bank approved by the board of directors
  • Keep records of receipts and disbursement of all the monies
  • Approve all payments from allotted funds and draw checks therefor in agreement with policies established in advance by the board of directors
  • Dual signatures needed with the president and VP1
  • Make payment to the refs by etransfer
  • Prepare an annual budget, under the direction of the president, for submission to the Members at the annual general meeting
  • Preform such duties which are incidental or ancillary to the above duties, or as may be assigned by the Board

Registrar

 

  • With consultation sets open and closing dates
  • Add and remove players if needed
  • Inputs payments for each season
  • Once teams are set, rosters the team to Ramp
  • Filters any information to the right people
  • Plan for and receive or directly supervise the receipt of the registrations, in electronic or written form, of all players registering to participate with the society
  • Assist the Board in planning annually with respect to the capacity of the house league organized by the Society, and each division therein;
  • Maintain the register of members as required by the Society Act,
  • Preform such duties which are incidental or ancillary to the above duties, or as may be assigned by the Board
  • Works with League coordinator to support waitlist and groupings of the teams

Secretary

 

  • Records activities of Langley Baseball and maintains files, mailing lists, emails and necessary records
  • Maintain list of all regular and honorary members, directors and committee members.
  • Gives notice to all general meetings of the Society and Board meetings
  • Maintain current list of all regular members in good standing
  • Keep minutes of the meetings of the members, the board and the executive committee, if any, and cause them to be recorded in a book kept for that purpose
  • Carry out all orders, votes and resolutions
  • Notify members, directors and committee members of their election dates and provides copies of the local league constitution
  • Paperwork for all insurance policy
  • Paperwork for all content insurance
  • Perform such duties which are incidental or ancillary to the above duties, or as may be assigned by the Board
  • With ongoing input from and approved of the Board, prepare and publish a calendar of Society Activities
  • Maintain the register of board members as required by the Society Act

Player Agent

  • Record all players transactions and maintain an accurate and up to date record
  • Receive and review applications for player candidates and assist the President in verifying player candidates’ residence and age eligibility
  • Conduct and be present at all tryouts and player draft transactions and selection meetings ensuring a fair selection process and balanced teams in the league
  • Prepare the president signature and submission to LLB Director Administrator, team rosters, including players claimed, and the tournament team eligibility
  • Act as an advocate for a player to address and resolve any disputes with a manager or coach
  • Act as an advocate for a player Member in a disciplinary hearing before the board or its authorized committee or agent
  • Tournament team eligibility affidavit
  • Notify LBB of any subsequent player replacement or trades
  • Navigate player complaints
  • Conduct investigations of complaints
  • Ensure that all player-related activities and decision adhere to the Little League rules and regulations, maintaining the integrity of the league

 

Umpire In Chief

  • Check certification of all the umps
  • Arrange courses and certifications
  • Help with umpire schedule
  • Communication with ups
  • Observe and evaluate umps
  • Equipment and Uniforms for umps
  • Clubhouse open and close
  • Help with the assigner
  • Make sure Umpire gear is in good condition

 

Umpire Assigner: 

  Works with Umpire in Chef (UIC), league scheduler, and division coordinators to ensure all games are properly staffed with Umpires

  • Manages LB account on “Assignor” app
  • Uploads all games into “Assignor” and with consultation from the UIC Assign umpires to games ensuring fair distribution of games to umpires
  • With consultation from the UIC, ensures umpires are assigned to games appropriate to their skill, experience and confidence.
  • Sits on umpire committee with UIC, treasurer, Sr. Umpires, and other appointed members
  • Works with Treasurer to ensure umpire pay is distributed accurately and on time
  • Communicates with umpires (and mostly umpire parents) via the umpire WhatsAppchat

 

Concession Committee (2-5 members)

  • Order food for the concession
  • Submit receipts on an invoice to the treasure every 2 weeks
  • Make sure all appliances are in working order
  • Deep Clean every month
  • If something is broken submitting a form at next board meeting
  • Order new appliances (talked about at meeting)

 

Apparel Committee (2-5 members)

  • Design the look of the summer jersey
  • Order all jerseys for spring in the fall
  • Order summer jerseys
  • Inventory of all jerseys in the club house
  • inventory of all extra hats in
  • Create price point for the re-selling of merchandise
  • Help to sell off old merchandise
  • Organize the distribution with the coordinators for the all seasons
  • Medals and Pins -
    • Design the medals
    • Order all the medals for the year
    • Check registration and create a spreadsheet
